Ulladulla Community Drug Action Team
Information and contact details about the Community Drug Action Team and links to projects and activities.
OverviewThe Ulladulla Community Drug Action Team (CDAT) was established in 2009. Ulladulla CDAT is actively involved with Ulladulla Interagency and other core agencies involved in drug and alcohol service delivery, youth, community services and mental health. What we've done:During Drug Action Week 2009, Ulladulla CDAT - in partnership with Ulladulla Youth Service and Ulladulla High School - hosted the Out of Harms Way forum. This project raised awareness of responsible road and personal safety and also focused on alcohol issues with local youth. The event engaged young people in workshops and presentations from an array of organisations and community members including Police, Ambulance and the Four O’clock Knock. The Four O’clock knock program focuses on the impact that poor decisions can make on wider community or ones family. This involved a young lady reliving her story of losing her best friend in a car accident as a result of a poor decision and challenging that ‘it will never happen to me‘ attitude. The event culminated with a community forum, to which 200 people attended. An unexpected, positive sustainable outcome from this event was the decision of local tyre services to rotate free safety checks to assist in supporting local safety for all community members. Smoking and Kids promotion has also worked with local schools and childcare centres to alert parents to the new legislation which relates to smoking in cars occupied by children. Flyers were developed to provide this information to parents and were distributed through partner organisations. Helping Smokers Quit training for service providers has also been held to support local community members through a train the trainer model. This project provided professional development for those who work with clients. What we're doing:Ulladulla CDAT is currently working alongside local primary schools to provide training for teachers and to work with local students and parents as part of a program called Talking Tactics. This project aims to promote conversation between parents and their children around alcohol and drug issues.
