The Drugs and Community Action Strategy (DCAS) Coastal Sydney region covers the eastern areas of Sydney, extending from Pittwater, Ku-ring-gai and Hornsby in the north, to Sutherland in the south. The region covers a diverse geographical and population area that spans beachside and outer suburbs and high-density inner city suburbs. There are twenty-seven Local Government Areas within the Coastal Sydney region.

There are currently eight operational Community Drug Action Teams (CDATs) in Coastal Sydney. The range of approaches and projects by CDATs reflects the diversity of drug and alcohol issues across the region. They include the development of local information resources, community and peer education strategies, and developing partnerships with local Liquor Accords.
